Paul Pryce was born on March 12th, 1986 and has lived in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Austria and all over Canada. Despite, or perhaps because of, his diverse background, Paul has been a committed patriot all his life.

In 2005, after his family moved from the town of Brooks, Alberta to Calgary, he enlisted in the Canadian Forces and trained as an infantryman with the Calgary Highlanders. During his service, he helped to prepare numerous other soldiers for deployment to Afghanistan through such programs as Exercise Urban Grizzly. In 2007, Paul requested voluntary release from the Primary Army Reserve to focus on his post-secondary studies.

In the time that has followed, Paul has been highly active in his community, involving himself in a number of causes and policy-oriented groups such as:

  • Citizens Advocating Use of Sustainable Energy
  • Albertans Against Nuclear Energy
  • Alberta Environment Network
  • Palestinian-Israeli Mediation and Peace Students' Association
  • United Nations Association of Canada, Calgary Chapter
  • Students Taking Action Now for Darfur
  • Calgary CivicCamp

Paul also has accumulated a wealth of political experience from participating in a whole slew of election campaigns, including:

  • Monte Solberg in Medicine Hat (Conservative Party of Canada, 2004 federal election)
  • Jim Dinning (Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta, 2006 leadership race)
  • Craig Cheffins in Calgary Elbow (Alberta Liberal Party, 2007 provincial by-election)
  • Mohamed El-Rafih in Calgary Ward 5 (2007 municipal election)
  • Dale Martin D'Silva in Calgary North West (Alberta Liberal Party, 2008 provincial election)
  • Dave Taylor (Alberta Liberal Party, 2008 leadership race)
  • Bernie Kennedy in Calgary East (Liberal Party of Canada, 2008 federal election)

As a youth who cares very much about his community and his country, Paul became involved in the Youth Parliament of Canada and the Canadian Youth Assembly at a very early stage. As a fresh new member in the Liberal Youth Party of Canada, he participated in the group's first leadership race. While Corey Shefman was elected Leader, Paul enjoyed a great deal of support. He has continued to be heavily engaged in the development of the organization in many big and small ways. For example, after the YPC/CYA split, it was Paul that coined the term "Canadian Youth Assembly", which was later formally proposed by Corey Shefman and then adopted by the organization. Some of the positions which Paul has held include:

  • Minister for Citizenship and Immigration in the YPC
  • LYPC Chair of the National Defence and Veteran's Affairs Committee
  • LYPC Deputy Chair of the Health Committee
  • LYPC Caucus Chair for Alberta
  • LYPC Outreach Director and Executive Member
  • Official Opposition Critic for Canada's Global Role in the CYA Model Parliament
